Royal Victoria Dock E16

Royal Victoria Dock E16 has various property offerings for people looking for a new home. Whether you have a big family, a small family, or living alone, there is surely one that you can find here that fits your preferences and your budget.

Royal Victoria Dock is the largest of the three docks located in the Royal Docks area of East London which is now part of the redeveloped Docklands. The area was first established in 1850 but it was only in 1855 that it was open for settlement. It was the very first of the three Royal Docks and the very first dock located in London to accommodate big steam ships. It was also the very first dock to use hydro power to operate its machineries and is also the very first to be connected to a railway station through the Eastern Counties and Thames Junction Railway.

It was formerly known as Victoria Dock but the prefix Royal was granted to be used in the 1880s. In the 1960’s, as many shipping companies followed the containerization movement, the Royal Victoria Docks experienced a steady decline of ships boarding the dock. In 1980, the dock finally closed to commercial traffic.

Today, the dock is undergoing major redevelopment programs. It is still home and is accessible to shops but the eastern part is used mainly for water sports. Transport links are also greatly improved with more roads opened and better railway connectivity made available. It is also dominated by the Excel Development Center where the annual London Boat Show is being held and various vessels are moored on the side.

The area has also become home to some of the most lavish apartments in the city. There are still many new developments in the area planned and proposed so people can expect more and greater things to come to Royal Victoria Dock.

Royal Victoria Dock is indeed a great place with high end living conditions. It may once have been a busy and noisy dockland but with recent developments underway, people can expect newer and better developments to make living conditions better.
